MAKE-UP HAUL: Lisa's Cosmetics Sale!

I recently went to the Lisa Warehouse Sale and came out with a bunch of goodies! The warehouse sale contains a variety of cosmetic brands that are marked down to a significantly lower price than a retail store would offer. In fact, some items are marked as high as 70% off!

Although you can buy various products (e.g. fragrances, socks, cleaning supplies) from the warehouse sale, I decided to focus exclusively on makeup (how predictable). Below is a haul of all of the makeup products that I purchased at the cosmetic sale.

This is the first time I have seen Anna Sui makeup being sold at this event. The color is called Ombre A Paupieres and is a shimmery bronze color. It has a very silky texture and applies very nicely on the skin.

One of the my favorite things about this product is the packaging. Frankly I think the packaging alone sold me because it is so different and looks very pretty. It slightly reminds me of stained glass. Another bonus is that the eyeshadow comes with a mirror which makes it easier to apply eyeshadow when on the go or when quick touchups are needed.  This eyeshadow normally retails for $25.00 but being sold for $10.99 at the sale. (See swatch of Ombre A Paupieres on my hand below)

I then purchased some eyeshadows from Stila for $4.99 each. I decided to go with this rose gold color called Jezebel and this charcoal color called Ebony because I felt that they would be great to pair together to create a smokey eye. The color Jezebel is very  shimmery and is very silky and soft in texture. In contrast, the color ebony is very matte which makes it great for shading and will create the necessary contrast from the shimmer that is needed to create a sultry smokey eye. (See swatch of Ebony and Jezebel on my hand below)

Swatches of all three eyeshadows:

I then picked up some nail products, which I have been looking forward to purchasing at this sale due to the good deals that I knew I would be able to get them for. From left to right: I purchased a nail clipper for $2.99, China glaze green shimmer nail polish for $4.00, China glaze blue nail polish for $4.00 and some nail art designs for $3.99. I am so happy I was able to pick up these items and I look forward to creating some fun nail designs for Christmas!

Overall, the Lisa Cosmetics Sale was worth going to in my opinion. The sale offers a variety of products that are appealing to both genders and has great deals that are significantly lower than items found in various retail stores. If you haven't been to the Lisa Cosmetics Sale before and you live in Toronto, you should definitely check it out.

Viktor & Rolf: FLOWERBOMB

Have you ever wanted to smell romantic or seductive? Well that is precisely what Vicktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb perfume offers in a diamond shaped bottle.

As Victor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb has been one of the top selling perfumes in the wellness/beauty industry, I have been curious to find out what makes it so popular in comparison to other fragrances. I soon discovered its appeal after I purchased a bottle to try it out.

The scent is very sensual and sweet yet not too overbearing as to prevent you from wearing it on a daily basis. In fact, I find the scent to be quite delicate and demur as it is infused with floral notes: Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, Ballerina Freesia, Patchouli that leave me feeling feminine while wearing it. And in my opinion, when you smell good, you ‘feel good’ and this perfume is one of those scents that leave you feeling good.

Another great thing about this perfume is that the scent lasts long. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than when you spray on a perfume and shortly afterwards the scent is gone. Poof. Kind of like magic but not really. This can be really frustrating since you want to smell good for the whole day and not have to worry about it fading quickly. Thankfully I don't have this issue when wearing this perfume.

As I continue to wear Flowerbomb, I have quickly come to enjoy this fragrance and look forward to trying more of their products in the near future, as I know that they have quite a wide selection of products that I am excited to try out.

Note: Although this fragrance can be quite costly, it comes in various bottles sizes as well as a roll on fragrance that you can consider if you are on a budget and want to try out this product.

I hope you enjoyed my post and found it to be very helpful!

MY NEW HAIR STYLE

Every once in a while, I crave a new hairstyle.

I consider hair to be one of those things that has a very transformative quality. For instance, changing your hair color from brown to blond can make you feel and act differently. Its as if you have created a new persona (think Lady Gaga).

As I love how hair has the ability to transform the way in which you look, I try every couple of months to change my hair do. The problem I have is deciding which look do I go with: A drastic hair cut, some braids, or a new hair colour?

After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to do ombre to my hair, because I did it when I graduated and I really liked how it looked on me. Plus, I received a lot of positive feedback from friends and strangers which made me think that I couldn't go wrong doing ombre again. So, ombre it is!

Here are a few looks of my new ombre hairstyle:

Although many people wear there their ombre hair wavy, I really like when my hair is straight with the ombre effect because I find that it gives me a more polished, finished look that I can wear everyday.

If you are looking to create this look for yourself, you can buy hair dye from the drug store and color the ends yourself, or you can go to a  professioal salon to achieve this look. I chose to go to the salon since I felt more comfortable going there to get my hair done.

The name of the Salon is Amorphous Salon and is located in Toronto.

THE ILLAMASQUA WINTER COLLECTION

Illamasqua has just launched their new winter collection and I am really excited to be able to showcase some of their newest products!

   Eyeshadow: Fatale Palette

The eye shadows in this winter palette are highly pigmented, which is something that Illamasqua has truly mastered in their eye shadows. Every time I swatch a colour, it feels like silk on my skin and is so smooth and light. The colors in the winter collection are absolutely gorgeous in my opinion. I am a fan of every color, which is a bit rare as I have a tendency to wear neutral colours (e.g. bronze) on my eyelids. However,  I not only like all of the colors in this palette (which is also rare), but I actually can envision myself wearing each of these colors.

Tips:
  • Charm is a versatile color that will look great with all of the eye shadows in this palette!
  •  Women of colour/deeper tones will looks great with ensnare and mystify on their lids.

Sculpting Powder Palette: Duo Lumos & Heliopolis

This is sculpting palette, is a great palette for contouring and highlighting on the face. I like that it has some glitter in the highlight color, which will give a bit of a glow to the face. Similarly, to the eye shadows, this powder applies so nicely to the skin and feels quite light on the skin. In fact, I really like when it feels like there is nothing on my face, even though I have product on.

Although this is a great palette, it is too light for my complexion. However, for women with lighter skin tones, this would be a great palette to try out.

Lipstick Collection

I really like Illamasqua for their lipstick, because they always have such bright and vibrant colours.

One of my favorite colors from this winter collection is Scandal. I really like pink/peachy colors, so I figured that I should give this one a go. Here is a look of Scandal on my lips:

I think this lipstick color looks nice with my complexion and is not too overpowering, nor washes out my color. However, as this color is quite matte, I think it is important to use a lip liner and moisturizer (if you prefer) before applying this lipstick on.

Nail polish: Blizz & Boosh

The new polishes from the winter collection: The glittery nail polish is called Blizz, which makes sense considering that it looks similar to a winter snow storm. The other color is Boosh, which is a color that I am more drawn to as I like dark gothic colors on my nails during the winter. I have not tried either polishes yet, but I am such a big fan of nail polish that I wanted to show you guys a sneak peek into Illamasqua's new winter nail polish.

NEW FRAGRANCE LAUNCH BY TRISTAN: ELLE & LUI

Clothing retailer Tristan has just launched their new fragrances ELLE & LUI in their stores yesterday. The line is French inspired with Elle being for women and LUI being for men. The packaging of the fragrance bottles is quite simple with a wooden cover, which gives the product a very natural and pure appearance.

As I am familiar with Tristan's clothing line and have bought a few pieces myself, I wanted to try out their new fragrance for women and see if I would like it. Initially when I sprayed the ELLE perfume on, I could smell a bit of the alcohol in the product, which I didn't like too much;  however, as the perfume began to dry on my skin the scent started to smell much better. I would best describe the scent as a combination of baby powder and flowers; giving it a very feminine quality.

Overall, as this perfume is not very strong in smell, it is good for individuals that prefer to wear light  feminine scents.

Tip: Make sure you try out a scent before you purchase it as perfumes always smell different on each individual.

Although this is no beauty product or fragrance I wanted to include a picture of the cupcakes they were serving at the event, because I thought it was really interesting that they had mini cupcakes with the Tristan brand on it. I guess brands are on everything these days. Not only were the cupcakes really cute, but they tasted really good too! Yum!

ALDO MIDI RING HAUL!

I recently went "window shopping" with a friend and ended up purchasing a few items from Aldo. Funny how that always happens huh?

Anyways, it was a worth while purchase in my opinion, because I have been looking for
some midi rings for a while now, but I felt they are always so expensive when I see them and I am not willing to spend $10-$15 on something that I may not wear too often since I'm not that big fan of costume jewellery rings. Let's just say I had a bad experience with costume jewelry rings- green fingers.

However, when I noticed the that the midi rings were marked down to $5.98 from $8.00, and they were additionally marked to 2 for the price of 1, I decided that I should snatch them up fast since they were cute and on SALE (bonus)!

As soon as I got home with my new purchase I tried them on and tried to experiment with different looks, because they can be stacked or merely placed on one finger.  They are so fun to wear and I am really happy that I ended up getting 2 for the price of 1 since they are really cute and are so versatile. It's amazing how many different looks you can create with only a few rings on.

Below are a few pictures of different ways to style midi rings. The key is to have fun and play around with creating different looks cause you never know what amazing look will be created. If you haven't purchased a midi ring yet, I think this definitely something you can add to your Christmas list.

I hope you enjoyed this post and feel inspired to try out this fun trend!
