Style Trend 2014: Overalls Make A Comeback!

Style Trend 2014: Overalls

One of the biggest trends this Spring 2014 is overalls.  Yes, the one article of clothing that is reminiscent of your child years and grass stained knees (at least for me). It seems as though everywhere I go clothing stores are jumping on this trend, and I have to admit that I am kind of excited to jump on board myself- even if I do repel some men away.

One thing I really like about the resurgence of the overall is that it’s not your basic old pair of overalls that you are seeing in stores, but rather a revamped up, stylish take on the classic overall. For instance, designers are incorporating leather into their overalls, ripped denim and even bright colors. And if your not a fan of overall pants, why not try the overall skirt?

Overall, the overall one 90’s trend I am happy to revisit!

Is this a trend you are happy to see re-emerge? Comment below.

Midnight Mrkt in Toronto!

Toronto is a great scene for designers, and last Friday I was lucky enough to meet some of the great designers that Toronto has to offer by attending the Midnight Mrkt in the heart of the city. The concept behind the Midnight Mrkt is to allow local designers/artists (e.g. clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, photographers) to come together in a common space and showcase their artwork to the public from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Not only does this event allow for these emerging artists to display their work, but it also enables the public to interact with artists that they may not have had the opportunity to connect or communicate with on a more personal level. Plus, the event is incredibly live with great music, lots of drinks and food. I personally had a wonderful time with my friend and fellow blogger Stephan.

If the Midnight Mrkt seems like something you would be interested in attending, not to worry since it takes place every 3 months and the next event will be held on May 30th, 2014. The cost is only $5.00 at the door. If you live in Toronto or ever get a chance to be in the city, this is definitely an event you will not want to miss.

Below is a photo gallery of some of the great pieces that I saw at the event.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and had gained some inspiration for this post!

What Does Your Lipstick Say About You?

I have often wondered why the shape of my lipstick looks so different from some of my friends- very flat at the top, completely losing shape from when I initially purchased it. The more I would ask around, I discovered that some of my friends (not all) had lipsticks that looked differently from the original lipstick shape that they purchased it as.  This made me even more curious and I began to question, “why couldn’t my lipstick hold its original shape” and “was I applying my lipstick wrong all this time?”

Well, after poking around online for a while and doing some research I found out that there is an actual explanation as to why lipstick shapes are different for everyone and apparently the way you apply your lipstick on says a lot about your personality.

According to the chart above, if your lipstick shape is one of the following it means the following things about your personality:

If your lipstick is slanted but close to the original shape:
  •   You are a rule follower
  •    You’re a bit self-conscious
  •  You are reserved

If your lipstick is a rounded tip to a point:
  •    Your lovable
  •     Stubborn
  •     Family Oriented

If your lipstick is rounded with a smooth tip:
  •     Easygoing
  •    Generous
  •    Likeable

If your lipstick is a flat top:
  •  You are to the point
  •  High morals
  •  Loves challenges

If your lipstick is a sharp-angled tip:
  •  Opinionated
  •  Outgoing
  •  Likes attention

If your lipstick is a flat top concave:
  •  Makes friends easily
  •  Complex
  •  Adventurous

If you lipstick is a sharp angled, curved tip:
  •  Creative
  •  Energetic
  •  Falls in Love Easily

If your lipstick is sharp angles on both sides:
  •  Spiritual
  •  Mysterious
  •  Loves life

My lipstick shape is a flat top which according to the chart means that I am of high morals, loves challenges and is to the the point. Whether or not these traits are true, I find the idea that the shape of your lipstick being able to define ones personality to be really fun and interesting.  What do you think?
