Outfit of The Day: Zebra Print H&M Dress

The weather in the city has been lovely lately, so I decided take advantage of it and wear one of my favourite dresses today. I purchased this black and white zebra dress from H&M about a year ago for only $10 during one of their in store weekly sales. To be honest, at the time I was shopping at H&M I didn't have much luck finding any interesting pieces, or anything that I could imagine myself wearing. However, when I saw this black and white print dress on the sales rack, it really stood out to me.  I really liked that the zebra print was not the only print on the dress, as black zebra strokes are displayed on top of the white background, which makes the dress look more interesting rather than having a bunch of zebras alone on the dress. As well, I didn't have anything in my closet with zebra print, and the price was too tempting to resist. I ultimately decided that this was a great piece that I could not pass up on.

Since purchasing this dress, I have become a fan of zebra print. It is such a fun and unique print that you can't find everywhere. If you have never worn animal print before, I would recommend zebra print as it can be easily paired with anything as it is black and white.

Can you believe this dress was only $10.00?! I still feel like I got an amazing steal every time I put this dress on.

The Many Colors of Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie has been in the media a lot lately. Some of it has to do with her reality TV show CandidlyNicole, which happens to be incredibly funny, but another part of it has to do with her ever-changing hair colours. From silver to lilac one can never get bored of these rainbow colours, and evidently other's (e.g. Kylie Jenner) have been following suit, as pastel hues are becoming a growing trend. Not only is colouring ones hair an unconventional shade adventurous, but it also says a lot about ones self-confidence. Nicole's ability to dye her hair any colour and walk with confidence says a lot about this fashionista and her ability to take risks. As I am a huge fan of pastel hairstyles, I have provided some of my favourite hair colours that Nicole Richie has donned in no particular order.

This silver hair colour looks amazing on Nicole. Normally silver or anything that resembles grey is something people cover up with hair dye, but Nicole Richie decides to go full out and definitely rocks this daring look.

This lilac hue gives Nicole a playful and whimsical look. Again another hair colour that Nicole Richie effortlessly pulls off.

Nicole goes blue for the Fall and yet again proves that she can pull anything off.

Overall, Nicole Richie takes the crown as the pastel hair Queen and wears each new look with pose and confidence. Which of Nicole's looks are you a fan of, if any?

New York Fashion Week: Top Trends

New York Fashion week is officially done and the streets are abuzz with the fashion looks that graced the runways. To keep you up-to-date with the trends of the season, I have provided a brief overview of trends to look out for.

Emerald

The colour emerald is hot this season, and for a good reason. This jewel tone is a splash of color that will make any item you decide to pair it with look radiant (Left to right: Opening Ceremony and Prabal Gurung). I particularly love the idea of wearing an emerald sweater with a pair of black-cropped dress pants. However, as shown in the picture above, an emerald jacket as the focal point of your outfit can be a bold statement if you are comfortable with taking more risks when it comes to fashion.

Fur

A few seasons ago fur vests were extremely popular. This season it looks like dyed fur (Left to Right: J-Crew and Ralph Lauren) is making a big push in the fashion industry. If your not a fan of real fur, but you want to emulate this look there are many designers that create faux fur designs.

Knits

Oversized knit was trend that was incorporated in many designers' collections this season (Left to right: Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors). Clearly these designers are keeping us comfy and warm this season, which I can't complain about. Notice that the colours of the sweaters are quite neutral which is great, as it will go with anything you choose to pair them with. Oversized and long scarves are also very trendy this season and nicely compliment the knit sweaters if you choose to pair them together.  More examples of knitwear shown at New York Fashion Week is provided below.

Once again oversized knit sweaters are shown. One can see that these sweaters can be layered with items as shown in both pictures (Left to right: Public School and Tory Burch). I am such a huge fan of the brand Public School and the knit sweater shown on the left is definitely something I could easily see myself wearing with a pair of black booties.

Grey

This year grey is proving to be the shade of the season. Very chic, sleek and fashionable, these coats are definitely an item anyone can easily incorporate into their wardrobe (Left to right: Hermes and Ralph Lauren). As well as grey is a staple color in many individuals wardrobe; many can shop within their own closets to achieve a chic all-grey ensemble. I personally look forward to taking out my grey sweaters and hats from the closet to wear as the weather begins to get colder.

Overall, there were many great fashion trends this season and many were looks that I could easily find myself incorporating into my daily style. Are you excited about any of these trends?

My New Favorite Lipstick: M.A.C. Lady Danger

There are moments when you try on a new lipstick and know it's perfect for you. The texture, the colour, the way it makes your lips look and feel. Once you make this realization, there is no way you can leave the store without it. Lady Danger by M.A.C. had this effect on me when I tried it on for the first time.  I was drawn to the beautiful reddish-orange colour and the fact that it is very different from most of the lipstick colours I have in my collection.

I also really like that the lipstick color Lady Danger is very versatile. Not only is this a fantastic colour to wear during the summer, but it can also be transitioned into cooler weather during the Fall,  and  even worn during the Winter. I can already imagine wearing this lipstick with an everest green utility jacket during the Fall or with a warm comfort black sweater during the winter holidays.

As Lady Danger is a matte lipstick, it needs to be applied a few times to give appropriate coverage to ones the lip. Adding a lip liner will also help to make the lipstick standout more and last longer. However, if you don't have a lip liner to pair this lipstick with, it won't be a problem as this is a lipstick you can get away without using a lip liner.

The power behind a beautiful lipstick is undeniable. What more can I say, Lady Danger makes me feel "happy, oh so happy!"

Overall, I really like this colour and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is in search of a beautiful red-organge colour. I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to leave a comment below!

Have you tried M.A.C.'s Lady Danger? If not, have you ever tried a lipstick that makes your feel fabulous?

DIY Black And White Nail Art

Doing fun nail art designs is not always as difficult as it may look. In today's post I will show you how to create a black and white stripe pattern on your nails. Below are step-by-step instructions of how to recreate the desired effect on your nails.

Step 1: To create this design you will need white nail polish and a black nail polish striper. Although you can use any white nail polish brand you have available, I used a white nail polish by OPI called Alpine Snow and a black nail art striper by Sally Hansen

Step 2: Begin by painting your nails a solid colour of white. This will be the background for your white stripe. As white nail polish sometimes appears chalky on nails, you may have to do two coats to create the desired look. Keep in mind that you don't have to paint all of your nails white, but the nails ones you want to have the design on. In my case I choose to paint all of my nails in white nail polish to create the stripe look.

Step 3: Once the white nail polish has dried, take the black nail art striper and apply a straight line down the center of your nail. Once the first line is done you can begin to paint the other lines that will be placed on either side of the centre line as shown below. Follow this patten for all of the nails you have painted in white nail polish. *Don't worry if it is not entirely straight as the effect will still show properly when all stripes have been applied.

Step 4: When your nails are done, you should see a black and white stripe design similar to the image shown below. After your nails have dried, add a top coat to give your nails some added shine and help the polish last longer. You don't want your nails to chip after you took time to create this fun nail art design.

Overall, I this post has shown you how easy it is to create fun nail art designs that you can do yourself! If you want to learn how to do other designs or enjoyed this post feel free to leave a comment below.
